edm wire cut machines are used to cut metal parts with a thin wire that is electrically charged. This process is used to create intricate shapes and designs that would be difficult to achieve with traditional mechanical cutting methods.The technology index directly reflect the performance of the edm wire cutting machine,that includes machining efficiency,surface roughness,and accuracy,In additional,electric discharge gap electrode wire loss,and cutting surface layer changes are the important indexes for the edm wire cut machine.
1.Machining efficiency or cutting speed
The cutting speed of edm wire cut machine is the area in which the workpiece is cut per unit time.Unit: mm²/min.In general,the cutting speed for machining a workpiece is average speed.
In general,adopt the max.cutting efficiency as the index to measure the performance for the pulse power supply of the edm wire cut machine.The max. cutting efficiency is that the max.area is cut per unit time,do not consider the direction of processing,accuracy and surface finish at same time.

2.Surface Roughness (Ra)
The surface roughness is the micro geometric tolerance of cutting surface,that is a importanct measurment index for the edm wire cut machine.We usually use the two surface roughness index,mean arithmetic deviation Ra and maximum height deviation Rz.More usage for the Ra index in the actual production,unit:um.In general,the roughness value(Ra) of workpiece is less than 2.5um after single cutting,and the best value of roughness can be 0.6um after multiple cutting.
3.Loss of electrode wire
The loss of the electrode wire can show after the electrode wire has machined 10000mm² of workpiece on edm wire cut machine.

4.Machining accuracy
Those are the dimensional accuracy,shape accuracy and positional accuracy for the workpiece cutted,dimensional accuracy is that dimensional tolerance for the various parts of the workpiece,it’s usually represented by T,shape accuracy is that the error of straightness,flatness,ellipticity and pattern of the workpiece machined,positional accuracy refers to the accuracy of the shape of the workpiece relative to a geometric reference size on the workpiece,e.g.the machining position has no deviation,the position relative to the reference parallelism,perpendicularity.in general, the machining accuracy of edm molybdenum wire cut machine is ±0.005 to ±0.015mm.
